About this spring

The highly mineralized water is rich in sodium chloride and calcium bicarbonate which is pumped directly from local deep wells. The facility is a modern municipal bathhouse featuring separate indoor pools for men and women as well as private family bathing rooms. It is a great alternative for travelers who want a cleaner and more contemporary facility than the older Medrese bathhouse down the road. Bring your own bathing gear and towels as rentals are not provided.

History

The modern Seyran bathhouse was constructed in 2012 by the Haymana Municipality as part of a public works project to expand the town's thermal tourism capacity and reduce overcrowding at older historic sites.

The facility was built with contemporary concrete domes and modern water filtration systems that continuously tap the same deep artesian aquifer utilized since ancient Roman times.

Local guide

A short walk northeast from Haymana's town square brings you to the Seyran bathhouse, a newer concrete-domed building that feels distinctly more modern than the older Medrese hamam down the road. Inside, the same deep artesian mineral water feeds separate pools for men and women, along with private family bathing rooms for those who prefer not to share the communal space.

Bring your own towels and bathing gear, as rentals are not provided, and expect the facility to be noticeably cleaner and better maintained than the historic alternatives nearby, a deliberate result of its 2012 construction. Families with young children tend to prefer the private rooms here over the communal pools at Medrese.

Visit on a weekday if you want the pools to yourself, since weekends draw day-trippers from Ankara. Haymana's central market has small bakeries selling simit and fresh cheese pastries, an easy stop before heading back to the bus terminal a kilometer away.

Sodium Chloride (Salt)
Benefits

Sodium chloride springs, essentially natural saltwater baths, are celebrated for their warming and moisturising effects. The salt forms a thin film on the skin that slows moisture evaporation, keeping skin hydrated longer than a freshwater bath.

Note

Those with high blood pressure or heart conditions should consult a doctor before bathing, as the warming effect increases circulation. Avoid immersing open wounds.

Calcium Chloride
Benefits

Calcium chloride springs share the heat-retaining property of sodium chloride springs but with a stronger warming effect. Prized for muscle and joint relief.

Note

The strong warming effect means those with cardiovascular conditions, high blood pressure, or pregnancy should limit soak duration and consult a doctor if in doubt.
